There are parallels today, as the third lockdown begins to unwind. I wanted to revisit hints of resilience through a video essay on the changes to the commercial fabric of Newbury. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, using the lens of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/rowman.com\/ISBN\/9781538133248\/Sustaining-a-City%27s-Culture-and-Character-Principles-and-Best-Practices\">Sustaining a City&#8217;s Culture and Character<\/a><\/em>, I illustrate certain <a href=\"http:\/\/-cities-will-look-after-coronavirus-pandemic\">post-pandemic city<\/a> issues in real-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I add a common theme from many passages from the book: urban places carry memories&#8211;and reassurances&#8211;that regeneration will occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bKhObLeJA7s?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The video roams Newbury&#8217;s town center, documenting blended streetscapes, closed restaurants, and hints at regeneration solutions.  I end the video adjacent to where I live.
