Life and Death on the Salton Sea

As a recovering environmental lawyer, I’ve been interested in the Salton Sea for some time. An accidental body of water created from an irrigation control accident at the turn of the twentieth century, its shoreline communicates a history of toxicity from agricultural runoff. These February 2025 images more provocatively show failed visions of meccas, both residential and recreational.
